The English Hub

What username colours mean

Roles, English level, premium custom colours — how to read them on desktop and mobile.

Coloured names in the member list are roles, not decoration. Most colours reflect English level or special contributions; premium members can choose a custom colour.

How to check someone's roles

On desktop, right-click a username or avatar and view their profile roles. On mobile, tap the user and open their profile — roles are listed there. Long-press works on mobile in many clients.

Level colours

Beginner, intermediate, and advanced roles use distinct colours so you can spot who might enjoy the same practice pace. They are guides, not exams — people self-select and move as they improve.

Premium custom colours

Premium membership includes a personalised vanity role and colour. That does not automatically mean someone is staff or a native speaker; check their role list.

Staff and host roles

Teachers, event hosts, moderators, and helpers have their own role badges. See our article on host roles for what each title means.
