Using Discord

Join voice channels confidently

Connect, mute yourself, and practice English in voice without tech stress.

Most English practice on The English Hub happens in voice. You do not need perfect fluency to join — listening is practice too, and many members start by staying muted until they feel ready.

Click or tap a voice channel to connect; Discord joins automatically. Leave with Disconnect or by switching channels. The microphone icon mutes your input; the headphone icon deafens you so you neither hear nor transmit.

Wait for a natural pause before speaking, and avoid talking over others in small groups. Background music, soundboards, and open microphones in noisy rooms distract everyone — push-to-talk helps if you cannot control ambient noise. Public voice channels here are English only; other languages have dedicated spaces.

Mobile works, but a wired headset usually sounds clearer than a phone mic. If Discord cannot access your microphone, check app permissions in your phone or system settings.
