Using Discord

Fix microphone and audio issues

Troubleshoot when Discord cannot hear you or your sound cuts out.

When nobody hears you, work through the simple causes before assuming the channel is broken.

Confirm you are not muted in Discord — the mic icon should not be crossed out. Confirm you are not server-muted; only moderators can remove that. Unplug and replug USB headsets; Bluetooth often adds delay, so wired connections are more reliable for voice practice.

On desktop, open User Settings → Voice & Video, select the correct Input Device, and run Let's Check. Close other programs that might be holding the microphone. On mobile, grant Discord microphone permission in system settings and restart the app after changing it.

If problems persist, restart Discord entirely, try another browser on desktop, or ask in text whether others hear you — sometimes the fault is your output device, not your mic.
